FOUNDATION COURSE IN CONSTRUCTION

If you haven't yet decided which construction route to follow, you may be interested in our Foundation Course in Construction. Our course will help you to develop the skills you need. It is designed to develop your skills and knowledge to the levels required, so that you will be successful in your new chosen career.

This is a modular programme and YOU will have a choice of how you wish to complete your qualification.
 
The programme at Level 1 is outlined below. For details of the course at Entry 3, please get in touch.

Level 1 Certificate in Construction

Entry 3 and Level 1 qualifications are designed to enhance learners’ work and life skills in a range of vocational contexts. They are appropriate for a diverse range of learners including:
- 16–19 Plus learners
- Adults returning to study
- Those seeking to develop greater independence
- Those who have not yet achieved accredited qualifications
- Those with specific learning needs

The intended destinations for Learners who successfully achieving these qualifications can progress to: 
- GCSEs and/or A Levels
- Diplomas
- Apprenticeships
- Supported employment
- Independent living

Learners must complete TWO Mandatory units listed below:

- Starting Work in Construction

- Health and Safety and Welfare in Construction

- Working as a Team to Move and Handle Resources

- Developing Construction Drawing Skills

- Developing Bricklaying Skills

- Developing Carpentry Skills

- Developing Joinery Skills

- Developing Construction Painting Skills

- Developing Construction Decorating Skills

- Developing Plumbing Skills

- Developing Electrical Installation Skills

- Developing Building Maintenance Skills

- Developing Plastering Skills

The qualification is completed via the units below:

- Working Towards Goals

- Working as Part of a Group

- Preparing for an Interview

- Interview Skills
